What has Hedgie been doing in Room 20?

Our pet hedgehog sleeps a lot when we are at school! This is because she is nocturnal. Nocturnal means she sleeps during the day but wakes up in the night time.
Sometime she wakes up during the day.
Last week Mrs. Knowler brought in some meal worms for Hedgie. She loves them!
Hedgie is good at smelling. She smells her food and she smells the people.
At night she runs on her running wheel. It is good exercise for her!

How to Care For Your Pet Hedgehog

Here is some information we have discovered about how to care for a pet hedgehog:

- Hedgehogs need food. Our hedgehog eats Hedgehog Formula. We give her carrots, insects, and wet dog food or cat food for treats.
- Hedgehogs need a lot of water.
- Hedgehogs need toys. Our Hedgie has a running wheel.
- Hedgehogs need big cages so they can run around. The cage needs a lid because hedgehogs are good climbers.
- We need to clean out the cage once a week.
- Hedgehogs need a litter box to go to the bathroom.
- The area where a hedgehog lives needs to be warm but not in direct sunlight.
- Hedeghogs need a hiding place.

Hedgie Arrives!

Today we arrived at our classroom after gym only to discover that someone (or some THING) had taken Mrs. Knowler's keys!!! We found a note that left us clues and led us on a scavenger hunt all around the school yard! When it was finished, we were led back to our classroom to find that we had a new class pet! A hedgehog! Here are some pictures of the hedgehog that Mrs. Knowler and her husband took!
